Sochi Olympics, Team Figure Skating Pairs Free Skate: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

by Carol Schram

The Russian skating team has virtually locked up the Team Figure Skating gold medal with one day remaining in the new competition.

When the field was narrowed from 10 to five after the four team short programs, Russia held a comfortable five-point lead over second place Canada. The Russians went on to win the pairs free skate with their less-experienced second-tier team, wrapping up Saturday's events with a six point advantage and the adulation of their hometown fans.

Team USA entered the second half of competition in third place thanks to Saturday's ice dancing win by Meryl Davis and Charlie White and the triumphant redemption of Ashley Wagner in the ladies' short program. Italy and Japan rounded out the field of medal contenders.

Here are the standings after two days of competition:

Russia  47
Canada  41
USA  34
Italy  31
Japan  30

The Team Figure Skating medals will be handed out on Sunday after the men's, ladies' and ice dance long programs.
Wonderful performances from the athletes today.
The less-experienced Russian pair of Stolbova and Klimov stole the show. They've never even been to a world championship, but they absolutely delivered a world-class performance in front of a rapturous crowd.
The U.S. team recovered superbly from a less-than-impressive first day and are sitting comfortably in medal contention with one day of competition remaining.

Here's the order of events on Sunday: the men skate first, then the ladies. The competition will wrap up with Meryl and Charlie and the rest of the ice dancers.
